Streets Division

The Department of Public Service consists of two divisions. These are Streets and Parks. Each division’s main purpose is to maintain the roadways, parks and residential public. Streets and Parks Divisions service and maintain all City properties and roadways.

The Street Division is responsible for maintaining 35.5 roadway miles including residential areas in Moraine. The City and its residents are provided with a variety of public services including sign maintenance, sidewalk and curb maintenance and replacement, snow and ice removal, tree trimming and removal, street sweeping, drywell maintenance, road painting, installation of Christmas banners and decorations, blacktopping, mowing, and the planting of flowers on all city facilities and traffic islands on Dryden Road.

The City of Moraine Street Division offers and provides the residents of Moraine with a variety of special programs which are stated below with a brief description of each.

Annual Bulk Trash Collection

Larger Trash PickupPlease find listed below the guidelines for the annual bulk trash collection. The date that the Street Division will be in your neighborhood is on the below dates Please note that several trucks from the Street Division will be picking up the disposal items separately. That is the reason we ask residents to assist the Street Division in separating their disposal items.

Acceptable Items and Guidelines:
Tree trimmings and/or brush must be no longer than 4 feet in length. We ask that residents stack all brush at the curb parallel with the street so that it may be easily loaded. Please keep all brush separate from all other disposal items.

Paint (25 gallons max), batteries, motor oil, metals and appliances not containing Freon will be accepted for the annual bulk trash collection. Please keep all these disposal items separate from one another.

Tires should also be kept from all other disposal items. Only a total of eight truck and car tires will be accepted for disposal. Tractor tires will not be accepted.

Please place all unwanted items at the curb on the weekend prior to the scheduled pick up date for each area. All annual bulk trash collection items must be placed next to the curb by Monday at 7:00 a.m.

If you are not able to dispose of all your unwanted items on the dates mentioned above, you can arrange for a special bulk pick up by calling 937-333-4800. This service is free of charge for all Moraine residents.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated during Moraine’s annual bulk trash collection.

Leaf Collection

This program is offered to the Moraine residents for a total of six weeks during the fall season. Public Service requests that interested residents rake their leaves into piles and place them next to the street curb.  Please do not place grass clipping and sticks in the piles of leaves.

Christmas Tree Drop Off

This program extends for approximately 30 days after Christmas. Any resident interested in this should place their Christmas trees at the street curb for pick up. All collected Christmas trees are chipped and recycled into wood chips.

Senior Citizen/Handicap Driveway Plowing

During the winter season, the Street Division provides driveway plowing services for the senior citizens and handicapped residents of Moraine. This service is for snow accumulations of 2 inches or more. Please note that this is the last priority of the Street Division during a storm. Persons interested must register annually at the Streets Division on Vance Road. Persons must be 60 years of age or older and must live alone. Exceptions are handicapped persons who have a verified medical problem.

City of Moraine customers must provide their own waste containers for weekly collection however, we encourage you to recycle and can provide a free 95-gallon blue recycling container by calling the City of Dayton call center at 937-333-4800 and requesting one to be delivered.

Trash will be collected every Friday with the exception of weeks containing an observed  holiday. All waste collection services will then be moved to the following day; please see our holiday schedule for which days are affected by holidays.

Recycling is also collected every Friday with trash collection. If you are interested in recycling and would like to obtain a FREE 95-gallon blue City of Dayton recycling container, please call the Call Center at 937-333-4800 and one will be scheduled for delivery. All recyclable material must be loosely placed inside your recycle container. No Bags. Please consult the Recycle Right reference guide for items that are and are not accepted in the recycle container. If you choose to recycle and to use your own recycling container, please make sure to clearly mark Recycle on your container so crews can distinguish between your trash and recycling containers.

All bulk waste collections must be scheduled in advance and will be collected every other Friday. You must call no later than the Wednesday before your normal bulk collection day to schedule this service. To schedule bulk waste pickup please call 937-333-4800. Bulk items mean those other than normal household trash including, but not limited to, appliances, furniture, and any other items which cannot be safely and conveniently loaded into a solid waste transportation vehicle or that do not fit into your waste container. Please refer to our Bulk Waste Collection page for items that are and are not accepted as bulk waste. Items resulting from an eviction, move outs, or foreclosure will not be collected.
