City of Moraine Wins another award

Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to City of Moraine for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2022. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

This is the 37th year in a row the City has received the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.

“The City’s Finance Department awards and recognition shows the ongoing commitment to quality,” Moraine Mayor Teri Murphy said. “This continued excellence has real impacts on maintaining the City’s credit rating. I congratulate Don and his team for these achievements.”

Buczek credits his team for achieving so many accolades and awards.

“This award is a symbol of the teamwork that it takes to operate City finances well,” he said. “There is daily work and attention to detail that trickles up into solid information that is then presented on our financial statements.  I have a great team and the City should be proud of their efforts every day.”
