Coffee with a Cop
On July 1st, 2017, staff from the Moraine Police Department and community members will be gathering in a casual atmosphere to build trust through open communication and to drink coffee.
Not only are all residents invited, but they are encouraged to attend. The event will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on July 1st, 2017 at Bob Evans, 1901 West Dorothy Lane. Bob Evans will be providing coffee and soda, while the Moraine Police Department will be purchasing a number of pastries. Individuals are still able to purchase their own meals or other food that are not provided.
Coffee with a Cop gives residents a chance to meet the officers, dispatchers, command staff, and even firefighters – who are all part protecting your community. We would like to create an environment that is different from the emergency situations that often serve as the sole interaction that the community has with the police. Thus, there will be an open dialog without constraints during the one-on-one conversations about current issues, the department’s efforts, or any other topic of interest.
Coffee with a Cop was established in 2011 and has since become a national incentive that is supported by The United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. The goal is for Coffee with a Cop to become a regular event within our community. It is our belief that increased focus on community policing can start with something as simple as a cup of coffee.
