History

D&M Welding

D&M Welding is rooted in the foundation of the Crume Brick Company founded by early settler Jacob Hammel which began producing sand limestone bricks at the very same location as today.  Over the next 100 years Crume Brick was a premier producer of quality bricks in the Miami Valley and to this day many of those bricks still adorn historical buildings in the area.

Harrie P Clegg Sr. married Lola Crume in 1894 and eventually assumed duties in the company.

In 1949 Crume Brick became Day-Crume Brick Company run by Harrie P. Clegg Jr., along with a few other business partners.

In the 1960’s Clarence McCarroll began working for Day-Crume doing maintenance and janitorial work. Over the course of time, he would be given various opportunities to advance, including eventually filling in for the shop foreman. After what was supposed to be a temporary role, Clarence earned a more permanent leadership position and eventually took over the business he earned through his commitment and work ethic.

In 1974 Clarence framed the future of his family’s business, creating the DBA D&M Welding that primarily focused on producing structural steel racks for the block industry, diversifying the business while still producing brick and block under Dayton Brick Company.

D&M Welding quickly earned the reputation of being the premier supplier of racks, pallets, sand hoppers, and various other items to brick and block manufacturers.

Both Jeff and Brian McCarroll, two of Clarence’s sons, joined their father’s business.  Jeff in 1974 and Brian in 1984 both eventually took over for their father in 2008 and under their leadership D&M Welding has made multiple investments in the future, including in 2019 with the addition of a Bystronic fiber laser cutting table and press brake. With this investment, it has expanded the sheet metal fabrication capabilities we are able to offer today.

The year 2023 marked a significant milestone as D&M Welding celebrated 175 years of manufacturing in Moraine, Ohio all at the very same location.  It also was the end of Jeff McCarroll’s career as he retired after working 50 years in the business.

The year 2024 also is a significant milestone as D&M Welding celebrates its 50th year in metal fabrication and marked the beginning of David Barger’s leadership as he became President and business partner to better serve its customers.

D&M Welding continues to be a respected source for welding and fabrication services since 1974. If your business is looking for metal fabrication services, D&M Welding is your source to cut it, bend it, weld it!
