Keep Mont. Co. Beautiful Sponsors Pinnacle Path
The Pinnacle Path Project took open space near the Main Street Bike Path and the Great Miami River and turned it into an area for native plants in the meadow. Formerly this large space had to be mowed weekly by Street Division staff to keep the field area in good order. A Keep Montgomery County Beautiful grant funded the planting of native drought-resistant plants in this open space. Each native plant was selected due to its tolerance of varying soil, ease of care and ability to resist heat. Now the space is beautiful and no longer needs to be mowed.
During the summer, the Street Division staff augured 150 holes into the Main Street meadow. The 150 perennial plants were delivered from Siebenthaler. These plants included Cone Flowers, Butterfly Weed, Black Eyed Susan’s and so many more.
Once the plants arrived and the summer rains subsided, plants were placed on top of the soil and arranged by Parks and Recreation staff.
Volunteers from Ameri-Corp Vista planted the perennials on a beautiful Saturday morning. Thank you to the Keep Montgomery County Beautiful Program for this opportunity!
