Council Member James (Jim) McGuire: 1945-2018
The City of Moraine is deeply saddened by the death of Council Member James (Jim) McGuire, who passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 at Kettering Medical Center.
Mr. McGuire was retired from the automotive and real estate fields and has a long history of dedicated service. He was a past president of the Kettering Optimists Club and a member of the Eastwood Lake Racing Committee. Mr. McGuire served ten years on the City of Moraine Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA), eight of those years as Chairman of that Board before being elected to the Council Member At-Large seat in 2008. While serving on Council he was a member of the Benefits and Annexation Committees, a board member of the Miami Valley Communications Council (MVCC) and the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC), a member of the Moraine Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT) and served as Chaplain for a local police department.
Mr. McGuire is survived by his wife Doti, his son Jim, daughter Rachelle, granddaughter Clare, two great grandchildren Trenton and Chloe, who were truly the apples of his eye, and his furry companion Fisher.
We all will miss Jim, his love for the City of Moraine and it’s residents, and his bigger than life personality.
