City of Moraine Wins another award
The City of Moraine Finance Department has done it again. During this past Thursdays City Council Meeting Finance Director Don Buczek reported that his team has received more awards to add to their extensive collection.
For the 34th year in a row the City has received the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
“The City’s Finance Department awards and recognition shows the ongoing commitment to quality,” Moraine Mayor Teri Murphy said. “This continued excellence has real impacts on maintaining the City’s credit rating. I congratulate Don and his team for these achievements.”
Buczek credits his team for achieving so many accolades and awards.
“This award is a symbol of the teamwork that it takes to operate City finances well,” he said. “There is daily work and attention to detail that trickles up into solid information that is then presented on our financial statements. I have a great team and the City should be proud of their efforts every day.”
A point of pride with the award for 2020, Buczek said, is that we had so many things going on with the pandemic like working from home for some time and adjusting how we serve other departments and the public. He said this is a testament to the training and efforts the department has made over the years to have solid procedures and be able to respond to a variety of challenges. These awards are more than just a plaque on the wall.
